The trombone is a brass instrument whose sound is produced thanks to the vibration of the lips in a mouthpiece thanks to the passage of air, and where the notes are marked by the different positions of the slide, or in the case of the piston trombone , by pressing each of them.
The trombone is usually tuned in Bb (note given in the first position of the slide) and is usually read in the Bass Clef, however, this sometimes causes confusion since, although it is tuned in Bb, the scores are usually written in C.
Learn trombone
For a musician who wants to dedicate himself to the world of the trombone, some of the facets that he must learn are the following:
- Adopt a relaxed position when playing
- Being able to control the air thanks to good diaphragmatic breathing and good development of the abdominal and facial muscles.
- Get a good attack (emission), tuning and flexibility in the change of notes for the entire register.
- Have good control of the slide (or, failing that, of the fingering) to change notes with rhythm and precision.
- Learn the different types of attack and phrasing to be able to transmit musically at each moment what the work requires.
Trombone Methods in Clave de Mi
We currently have the most complete trombone method that exists, the Arban´s method, and it is also fully integrated into our Clave de Mi player. Remember that it does not matter what kind of trombone you have, as well as its tuning, since all the Clave de Mi exercises allow you to adapt.
